As a culture, we talk a lot about food.. and for the most part over-complicate things. But, there's 1 lifestyle tip that a lot of people put on the back-burner. Self-Care + the Mind/Body Connection.
Lately, in my own life and those around me, I've been reminded more and more about why self-care should never come last.
When life gets really busy or stressful, the things that falls out of routine first are often the things we need most in our lives, like exercise, rest, time with your partner or family, or even just laughter.
In my coaching, I love to teach the concept of Primary Food -- and many people find this 1 concept to be extremely eye-opening and life-changing.
The Primary Food concept addresses everything in our lives except the food we eat. When we examine our happiness or fulfillment level with our careers, relationships, money, fun, self-care, exercise, etc, we can begin to unveil areas in our lives that are being ignored completely, causing more harm than good. And in turn, leading to us not feeling our best.
I'm personally recommitting to making sure I pay attention to my Primary Foods and making self-care #1.
Will you join me? Here's how to begin:
1. Check in with your schedule. Is there anything you can let go to make more space for self-care/things that rejuvenate you?
2. Learn to say "No." When things come up, ask yourself if it will fulfill you and bring you joy. And if it doesn't, it's ok to say "no."
3. Schedule your self-care like you would a meeting. Maybe even make an appointment for a massage or pedicure
Give it 1 month. Really put yourself first for 1 whole month and see how your life unfolds; see how you feel. It just may be the 1 thing you have been needing in your life.
